These postcards are images found in the forthcoming books, "Anaranjado y Rojo: Un Poema Ilustrado / Orange and Red: An Illustrated Poem" and "¡Iván y van! A Bilingual Adventure," both written by Gabriella Gutiérrez y Muhs and Illustrated by Veronica Eldredge.

Orange and Red began with an image of ripe tangerines and roses at sunset one San José December day in 2016. Gabriella Gutiérrez y Muhs, a world renown poet and professor, wrote the words to this beautiful poem, which later inspired Veronica Eldredge to illustrate her words. Together, these images and poetic verses form a collection in celebration of the senses and sensitivity, joy, children of color and, of course, orange and red.

Iván is a young man on a journey to the Central Coast of California and the Pacific Northwest. He traverses not only the land and fields where we works picking fruit and vegetables, but also the cultures of the Americas. Iván, the name of our main character, which also sounds like y van (“and they go”), is a metaphor for the problematized relationship between concepts of hospitality and welcome in Mexico and the U.S. With this story, we unpack cultural differences through a bilingual book that appeals and stimulates both bilingual and monolingual readers.
